Emad Farag, Samsung Research of America (SRA)
Principle Engineer
Dr Emad Farag is a principle engineer at Samsung Research of America (SRA) leading 5G and 6G standardization research. Before joining SRA, Dr Farag had been with Nokia Bell Labs, Alcatel-Lucent and Lucent Technologies, working on base station modem architecture and algorithms. He is a subject matter expert in wireless standards; actively participating and leading discussions within the 3GPP standards body, focusing on areas such as initial access, control channel design, MIMO, device-to-device communications and positioning algorithms. Dr Farag received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada. He has over 100 patents/pending patents in wireless communications and related areas. He is the recipient of the IEEE Region 1 Technological Innovation Award for outstanding leadership and significant innovations in wireless modem architectures. He is an active member in the IEEE North Jersey Section where he is currently the section’s vice chair.
