David Goodman, Lifetime Academic Award
Fellow of the IEEE, a member of the National Academy of Engineering and an International Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering
David Goodman was born here in Brooklyn in 1939 and he went to New York City Public Schools. After graduating from Stuyvesant High School in 1956, he earned Bachelor, Masters, and Ph. D. degrees at RPI, NYU, and Imperial College London.
In 1967, David joined Bell Labs focusing on digital audio in the Acoustics Research Department. Ten years later, he was promoted to Head of the Radio Research Department.
In 1988, David moved to Rutgers where he was Head of the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department and Founding Director of WINLAB. He moved to Brooklyn Poly, now Tandon School of Engineering at NYU, where he have been Professor Emeritus since 2008.
David Goodman is a Fellow of the IEEE, a member of the National Academy of Engineering and an International Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering.
